But over the years I’ve discovered that the real benefits of engagement sessions tend to happen behind the scenes.

Meeting and interacting with your photographer:
By the time you book your photographer, you’ll have emailed and maybe even spoken on the phone, but the engagement session will allow your relationship to grow even deeper. I always look forward to these sessions because I get to meet my wonderful clients and see all new sides of their personality. A good session will feel like the first time hanging out with a new friend.
It’s a wedding day rehearsal.
You are probably used to how you look on iPhone photos by now, but professional photos are totally different. You don’t need to look exactly like you will on your wedding day, but the engagement session is a great chance to see how certain hairstyles or makeup looks will turn out in your images.
When you’re more confident, you’re more relaxed.
When you receive your photos, there’s a sense of joy … and sometimes, too, a sense of relief. You’ll love the way you look, and it’ll give you confidence that you’ll look great on your wedding day too.
